NOTE: This theme has been updated for SP2.

I've migrated the old Tech 1 Blue theme that was bundled with BVC 2004 over to a BVC5 theme. There are some design updates and some major CSS changes. The existing buttons have been updated to work with BVC5 and the updated graphic source PSDs are still included. There are less images involved, just to keep it as accessible and scalable as possible, but you are free to modify it in any way you like for your own use.

Disclaimer: This theme is offered as-is and is by no means complete or thoroughly tested. It has gone through basic testing in most modern browsers and should work fine. As you modify for your own purposes, please keep an eye out for any issues and post them here, if you are able.

Hi Dave. Usually, all you need to do is place the theme folder inside the BVModules/Themes folder and then activate it from the BV Admin > Options > Themes section (just use the drop-down list and save).

As far as using an existing BVC2004 theme on a BVC5 store, the theme must be migrated by hand, just as this TekGear Redux theme. The complexity of this process usually depends on the theme, and there is no way to automate the migration and still get the right result. I am working on some ideas to make this easier, however, though the majority will still need to be done by hand. Basically, we take the original theme and duplicate the design in a new BVC5 theme.

Has anyone figured out what needs to be done on these custom themes to get the custom pages to display?

IE, a created custom page should appear in the footer, on these custom themes they do not, but they do appear in the 4 stock themes. The root of the problem seems to be the lack of these two snippets appearing in the custom themes footer.ascx:

This theme has now been updated for SP2 and includes a few enhancements for you to play with. Much of the theme has actually been rewritten.

Download the new version in the first post above.

* Fixed some bugs, specifically those related to error message display.
* The width of the theme is now 930px.
* The header is split into several images, so you can resize the site without having to completely build a new background.
* Links in the header are now tabbed, to give you room to play with your own background images and colors.
* Due to limited time, there are still places that need to be optimized, and a lot of things are left alone due to inconsistencies in the BVC5 modules. Feel free to tear things apart as you modify this to build your own.
* You can hover over the logo for an image change.
* Source files included.

Please continue to post if you find any issues. It's still an unsupported theme, but I'll try to help where I can.

Dan, the buttons are from the original BVC 2004 theme and the source for them are included in the theme as PSD files (I think there are three). You would need Adobe Photoshop to edit and export them. Of course, you could create all new buttons using the graphics software of your choice. I prefer Adobe Fireworks.

Either way, it will require a bit of manual labor.
