The US Postal Service will be retiring their older APIs in May 2011. BV Commerce versions 5.7 and older will be affected.
What will happen in May 2011?
The US Postal Service will turn off the older APIs that BV Commerce 5.7 and older use to receive postage rates. This means that any version of BV Commerce not upgraded to at least 5.8 will not be able to receive US Postal Service real time rate quotes any more.
What if I have BV Commerce 2004, BV Commerce 2, BV Commerce 1?
We no longer provide support for these versions of BV Commerce. You will need to either a) Upgrade to a newer version of BV Commerce, b) Upgrade to BV Commerce Hosted where all updates are automatic or c) hire a programmer to customize your copy of BV Commerce with the new US Postal Service API. Normal programming time could take anywhere from 10 to 20 hours of programming time (minimum) to complete this work.
What if I have BV Commerce 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, 5.5, 5.6,5.7?
We will be issuing a service pack (version 5.8) before May of 2011 with the new US Postal API. You will need to upgrade your existing BV Commerce 5 store if you want to receive US Postal Service real time rates. Customers with maintenance plans will receive this upgrade for free.
What if I don't have a maintenance plan?
