Applying Products to Categories: There's got to be a better way?!?!?

Lets say I sell leather organizers. Of these leather organizers I carry 10 different brands. I create a category. So far, so good.
However, the only way I know to assign the products to the new category is to do the following:
1) Locate product on my storefront. 2) Click on Edit Product at the base of the Admin Page. 3) Open product, click on Categories on the left, and click on the corresponding category to assign to the product. 4) Update and Save. 5) Repeat steps 1-4 for every single product.
Now, imagine I have five models of organizer for each brand. That's 50 items that I repeat that same process for and takes me upwards of TWO DAYS to complete a task that I'm CERTAIN I can complete in 15 minutes (with the right interface).
Another issue is that if I pick one manufacturer on the storefront, walk through each product and update, then they all appear together by brand. Why can't I have them appear randomly?
AM I MISSING SOMETHING?!?!
Thanks,
Robert |

You can select the category and pick the products instead. Just a bit faster perhaps.
While I don't use it, there is a 'dynamic category' tool which will grab products by vendor, manufacturer, product type. It might be faster to grab products via one of these filters then cull out any products that shouldn't have been scooped up. |
