How/Can I disable submenu items under the admin tabs?
For example under the "Product" tab, I would like to hide/disable Shared Choices, Product Types, Type Properties, Reviews, Product Batch Edit, etc....

Is this possible? If so, how?

That is not possible. Why would you want to do that?

Don't want/need basic product users to mess with this functionality.

What do you mean by basic product users? If you are referring to customers (end users) they would never need to go to BV admin at all. If you are looking at admin type of users to perform some admin operations, then look at BVAdmin -> People -> Groups. You can define granular access to different sets of admin users.

They are admin type user with limited access...
I did look under groups and I created a new group, but I only want users in this group to access the products and categories options under the catalog tab
and only price groups under the people tab. I don't think you can go this granular with groups, can you? Is there a workaround?

Nope. OOTB, thats what you get. If you need further granularity, you will need to code it in.
