*Drop down email template sends to customer and not drop shipper (as selected in Email Templates)*

I cannot figure out how to get this to work. On the order details screen, there is a drop down email template area that is supposed to send an update to whomever i select, but it always seems to get sent to the customer.

I think I saw someone answer a similar post and they mentioned something about fixing this in workflows, but I can't find it now.

Anyone dealt with this?

I think you're misunderstanding the functionality. From this screen the email will always go to the customer. The dropdown just gives you the ability to send a different email template.

Drop ship emails are sent automatically when an order is marked "paid".

Aaron, Stealth is correct, it's been discussed before, and it is lacking in functionality.

If the only way to communicate with a manufacturer/drop-shipper a second time is to cut/paste (or forward) the admin's copy of the edited order into Outlook, then admin's handling of outgoing emails could use some freshening up. There's no good reason to email a drop-ship notice to a shopper when the drop-ship notice is selected, but it IS functioning as designed, not a bug.

Drop-ship notices (mine, at least) don't have prices on them and I don't like to show drop-shippers this info. I can't think of any way to send a corrected drop-ship notice without prices except to edit the admin's email before forwarding.

Anyone else figure this out?

What we could use is a drop-down with a list of recipients right next to the drop-downs of templates. Defaults would be as they are, later random acts of email would be under admin's control regardless of what the workflows want to do for us.

Mitch-

You hit the nail on the head. I need this functionality for a couple reasons.

Scenario #1:

An order is placed and the order is automatically sent to my drop shipper "Warehouse A"
Warehouse A does not have the product and I want to then send it to "Warehouse B"
I'd like to be able to go into the product info, change the location of the item and Re-Send the drop ship notice, this time to Warehouse B.

Scenario #2:

Customer orders Product A for 29.95 and "New Drop Ship Notice" is automatically sent to Warehouse A.
Customer calls and changes order from Product A to Product B, which is also $29.95.
I make the change and would like to now send "UPDATED Drop Ship Notice" to Warehouse A informing them of the change.

I REALLY think this was the intention of the drop down menu, but maybe not.

Maybe Marcus can enlighten us on this?

Mitch-

I KNOW I have seen another post about this somewhere on this forum before but cannot find it. There was some mention about the work flows needing to be modified and then saved and that it would work after that. Did you ever see this post?

I know.... I remember a few over the years.

Found these. One with your post about this back issue back in 7/08. Maybe these will help.
