I was wondering if there was a way to show the root categories in grid form with pictures on the front page of a store, instead of just having them off to the side in a list.

There is a way to do it dynamically, but it requires doing some custom programming. However, if your top-level categories don't change much, you could simply edit the static HTML of your homepage to reflect your root categories. |
