I've got some q's relating to BVC5 user accounts, so will group them all here:
1) Password Reset: Is there a configuration option I'm missing to allow a user to reset their password to a string that they determine? All I see OOTB is an option for the system to generate one and email to the account holder.
2) Returns: It seems that the only way to do returns on the site is to go into order history, click on an item on an order and press the return button. What about purchases from anonymous users? Is there a way for BVC5 to facilitate their returns?
3) Users transferred from BVC 2004: I have over 25,000 users to transfer from the old version of the software. It seems I can not log in with the existing password on these transferred accounts for all accounts I have tested. Is this a known limitation? Is there a way to get around this? |

No, otherwise you could easily hack someone's account. This model ensures that only a user with access to that email account will be able to access the store account. The Return Form page (/returnform.aspx) will serve this purpose. This should display on the 'Customer Service' menu provided you have returns enabled in the admin (Options --> Returns). |

Thanks for the response, Aaron. re: Password: I understand this password model - the problem is no one ever remembers a system-generated string. There is no way to change this password once it is reset without custom code? On Returns: With BVC2004 the system worked simiolar to what you describe. However, from what I see, ReturnForm.aspx is a place to list policies for returns. The actual RMA process is handled at the orderline item level in the customer account. All the other posts I've read on this board seem to corroborate this understanding. http://forums.bvcommerce...lt.aspx?f=89&m=54204 |
