So we are using offers to allow for free shipping over $75 on each order. We also set up coupon codes to allow customers to save 15%, etc on various orders. However, what we see happening is that in order to get a coupon code to work with the free shipping offer, we have to make sure the 'Promotion may NOT be combined with other promotional codes' box remains unchecked.

So far so good. However, since this is the case, customers are allowed to enter two different coupon codes and double their discount. Is there any way to offer free shipping and only allow one coupon code to be used?

Thanks!

Greg

may sound odd, do you have Andy Millers rate rule provider installed on your site?

Hi Matt -

No, we are not using Andy's product with this site. Are you eluding to a potential conflict with this software or a possible resolution by using it?

Thanks!

It might be bringing a backhoe to the job when all you need is a shovel...

I use Andy's Rate Rule Provider all the time.

I would have a FREE Shipping method set up in BV's shipping settings which was set to BV Total >/= $75, cost = 0, along with the other methods that are available to customers. Let's assume that Ground, 2nd and 3rd day are available (UPS, Fedex, USPS, etc.).

Create a rule in andy's provider that always hides the free shipping method when the order total is below $74.99.

Display the Free shipping method when the order is >/= $75.00. I would hide the standard ground method, and leave the 2nd and 3rd day visible as it might just happen that customers need it faster (think amazon).

Using the rule provider eliminates the need for the marketing offer which would remove it from the coupon combination conflict.

Just a thought before you have to modify the source code.

wait... come to think of it.. you may not even need the rule provider.

simply setup a BV Total shipping method to $75 and charge 0. title it FREE Ground Shipping.

Hey Matt -

Thanks for that info - we may need to look at Andy's Rate provider. I've already set up the Shipping method to be $75 and free shipping, however, that conflicts then with the other offers. However, we are on 5.6 so perhaps I'm missing the BV Total shipping method? I used the 'Shipping' option in the dropdown...

Ah, I see now, thanks. However, it looks like By Order Total does 'when order is less than' which won't work in this case. We want 'when order is more than'. I'll have my programmer look on Monday to see if we can custom code this.

Thanks!

We use the by total on a website. The last tier is basically that and everything above it.

So we have it setup to be $0 for everthing over $700. Basically... free shipping.

Got it. Unfortunately, I don't think that'll work for this scenario. We'd basically need UPS rates for up to $74.99 and then a total shipping of $0.00 for $75.00 and above. I'll take a look at Andy's rate rule provider.

Ever figure out a solution to this?

Got a site using the following setup in offers.
1. Free Shipping for order over $99 - gives free UPS ground and displays regular cost for other methods.
2. Free Shipping item - various items

Number 1 is working like so
If we use a coupon code for a discount off the order and "Promotion may NOT be combined with
other promotional codes" is checked the discount coupon will not work. When unchecked it does.

Number 2 works fine except just the one free shipping shows up.

Hi Kim -

We ended up just going with Andy Miller's rate rule provider which is great and will allow my clients to do more detailed shipping for freight items. Could never get this working 100% just in BV.

Thanks!

Thanks Greg, sounds like a good plan to me. Would burn up a lot more in development time than the cost of Andy's rate provider. Appreciate you response.

To get UPS Ground Shipping Free for orders over X amount did you put a wrapper on the standard UPS ground?
