Hello,

my client recently purchased BV version 6.0.3

I am attempting to setup a development environment similar to the BV5 version I setup to demo and sell the product.

Version 5 has a How-to document located at: http://www.bvsoftware.com/BVCommerce5Manual/How%20To%27s/VisualStudioSetup.aspx

I'm recieving the following error. Can you help me out?

Environment: windows 7, visual studio 2010, IIS 7 .net 4.0 installed.

IIS setup: http://localhost:81/default.aspx

.net 4.0 web applications do work on

Thanks in advance. John

Issue solved...

I went back to the Intructions included witht he download and after seeing the SSL requirement, I installed a self-signed certificate in IIS 7 and set the site to use localhost with port 80. The website now runs on https://localhost/

I'd suggest adding this instruction to your development setup instructions document when you get around to sending one out with the software download.

thanks,

John

Also make sure you enable port 443 for SSL in basic settings.

I am trying to set up a BV Commerce development system on a PC running Windows 7 (enterprise) with IIS 7 - I plan to use visual Studio 2008

I have been fighting IIS7 for 2 weeks - I finally just got it to display its own "Default web site" which is just a single HTM file.

I believe that I need to set some Write & Execute permissions on my web site folder, so that BVC will finish the installation process.

The documentation that I have found on this site does not contain info on IIS7 settings, and is for older versions of BV Commerce and visual studio.

My customer site is running at resposio - it is BV Commerce version 5.7.3

My customers site requires some modifications and the support person at resposio is telling me that they are swamped with other work.

Does anyone have documentation to set up a development machine with BV Commerce version 5.7.3 ??? The documentation on this site is for some older version.

When trying to run a local copy of the web store on IIS7 I get the error "Server Error in '/' Application. Required Permissions cannot be acquired."

When trying to run the site code in the Visual Studio Development Environment, I get a web page that says "Directory Listing" and it lists only my web.config file.

Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks: 1 times
TMaiden -

In order to get my local BV sites working on Windows 7 / IIS7 I had to change the identity of my application pool. So, click on the application pool you are using for this site > Advanced Settings > Identity. I changed it from ApplicationPoolIdentity to NetworkService which worked for me.

Thankyou!

That got me to the point where the website told me that it was going to create the database.

But for some goofy reason, my SQLEXPRESS is not accepting my SA login.

I tried creating a new user/login with all kinds of permissions, but it won't accept that log in either.
( SQL also will not let me connect thru management studio using SQL Authentication with my SA password, so I am pretty sure that this is a SQL Server problem)

I had to uninstall and reinstall it to get a clean installation of SQL server

BV Commerce then opened up and created a bunch of tables in the new BVC5 database.

I opened the site, logged in with the Administrator password, and it asked me to upload my license file.

The license file seemed to upload OK.

But now, when I log in , I get the dreaded "Unable to display web page" error. I guess it is trying to navigate to the the main store page.

This is all running on IIS - I have not been able to get the the program to run within Visual Studio yet.
