Anyone know how to add a one-click button to an email that will add a current customer to the website mailing list? I want to include it in the New Order Reciept email template. Something like NetFlix emails that allow the customer to rate the quality of a recently viewed movie. I'm mostly interrested in the one-click aspect, so even if the site administrator has to enter the email at the website by hand, it's okay.

There's no way out-of-the-box to do that, but it would certainly be doable via a simple customization.

Thinking outloud for you. Wondering if the customization could be something as seemingly simple as sending the user to the myaccount_mailinglist.aspx page and within the url a query string auto-subscribes the user (has to be logged in...)

so the link would be something like .aspx?customerid=XXXXXXXXX&subscribe=1

But..... I'm a netflix user as well, having to login after those review emails are sent actually stops me from doing anything though. I'm that lazy...lol...

So perhaps a non-login required landing page for the subscription would be more effective?

Maybe I'm a unique snowflake on the "stopping because I have to login" behavior though.

You might want to consider a follow up confirmation opt-in in case the emails are forwarded to another one of the shopper's email addresses, or to a spouse / someone else who inadvertently clicks the sign up link...just to stay on everyone's white lists
