Is anyone working on the plugin for froogle feeds in BVC5 or any of the other similar sites?

Thanks

I've heard talk, yes, and what I've heard is pretty unique and cool. But I believe it's still in development.

Thanks

Hey Al and Tim.... can you add a feature to trim the meta keywords to the acceptable number? Froogle changed the maximum alloted number of meta keywords and I think I am going to have to manually edit each of my products to reduce the number to 10. It's a shame too, most only have 12 or 13.

KMan, my current feed already does this and the future one will as well.

Scottne, I don't have a solid ETA but it's well within your worst case scenario above. Well within.

TimT, my current feed already does this and the future one will as well.

Just wondering if there are any more details on the release of the froogle/googlebase software?

I'm figuring at this point we are looking at early Q1?

Are there any custom programmers out there willing to take on a googlebase module for $300 that you could resell?

The thought of entering each one is enough to make me :skull:

I'd think the goal in future versions would be to have these tools integrated. They are key to any ecommerce site (or most). We're going to be 3 months+ in before even the most basic integration is available and that's assuming it's still being worked on. There haven't been any updates now in almost 60 days.

Scottne,

Service Pack 1 was released on Thursday. BV Commerce 5 has been out less than 3 months. I think we've done very well in getting the first service pack out.

I think that scottne is commenting that future BV versions should include feeds as they are beyond necessary and that he is commenting times in regards to the development of 3rd party feed tools, not BV's performance in working out their product bugs.

I built my own feeds for BVC2004 - over a dozen of them - all run automatically in background. I did not trust that they would be available from others, and this appears to have held true. If there is interest in data feeds for your store, let me know. It generally takes me a business day or two to get around to cracking out a new feed. I could easily package this up and get you setup for the holiday rush.

Marcus, I'm not commenting on the speed of service pack release by any means. I do wish you had issued a hotfix on the minimum quantity issue, but not a big deal. My main complaint is in the total lack of 3rd party themes and 3rd party integration with key features any store needs. I realize there is an attempt to balance a growing vendor community, but not having even googlebase/froogle support at the 3 month mark is bad. Even the least expensive ecomm softwares have at least that single feed.

I still think it should have been BV that released another pack of 3 or 4 usable themes, and a functioning froogle feed. As the other Scott states it's nice to say they are under development, but for the most part the only one that ever made it out as a packaged piece was Al's software. To date there are still no packages for the other feeds.

All I'm suggesting is that BV release these with basic functionality. Make it so that we have to upload the feed manually etc so that others can improve and automate it as an addon. There's been no updates now for 2 months on whether or not a future release is coming.

I would think that to the bulk of BV users a froogle feed is way more important than the forum software being released. Just my 2 cents.
