Just wanted to get some feed back regarding product bundles and best method to approach this.

Basically I want to be able to offer a bundle of existing products at a special offer without using cross selling. Is there a facility to do this? or is the only forward to create a new product that consists of the other products and treat it seperately?

As far as I can see only the latter is possible - thoughts/comments appreciated

It sounds like you may be looking for "kitting" which is coming as a free feature in Service Pack 3 for BV Commerce 5.

We had hoped to including kitting in SP2 but it didn't make the cut. SP3 should come out much quicker than SP2.

Hi Russell,

I'm not quite sure of the type of "Product Bundle" you are looking to create, however we have developed a Product Input "Variation" that allows additional product skus to be added to the shopping at a discount.

We are using it for product accessories purchased at the time of purchase of the main unit. Discounts can be specified as either a percentage or dollar amount off of the current "user price" (meaning the final price is determined by the user's price group).

An example might be best,

Ie if you have 4 products available, Product A being the "Master" product, you can assign Products B, C, D as "Accessories" (again that is how we are using it so we named it as such) of Product A.

When the customer is on Product A's page, they are shown in the variant display a CheckBoxList, RadioButtonList, or DropDownList containing Products B, C, and D depending on the options set in the admin.

If Producs B, C, and D are added to the shopping cart at the same time as Product A (ie in a single Add To Cart Click), the discount specified in the admin section is applied to the pricing of Products B, C, D.

The discounts are controlled through an Order Task that is added to the Calculate Order Workflow. This workflow ensures someone does not add the products B, C, and D the A and then removes product A at a later time.

If there is any interest in this component, I can be up a demo online somewhere.

Marcus,

I asked support the other day about kitting and was told that it should be out in the fall. Too late for me to use for the holidays. I thought it would be sooner. I can't actually use the cart without this feature. Is there anyway it can be deployed as a separate module instead waiting for a service pack?

Thanks,

Bob
