I don't think this works out of the box.

I'm still playing with demo, will be purchasing next week sometime.

I have 3 products set up that are similar. They sell for $56.00 ea. I have volume discount set up with buy 5 at $54, buy 10 at $52. How much hard would it be for someone to make it where the volume discount would account for all 3 products at the same time. So the total quantity of all 3 products would get you the volume discount.

I know it can be done with offers. But then it isn't displayed on the product page that the customer can visually see and understand.

Would this be easy or difficult?

Dan,

Doesn't work now, but I think with the kitting feaure coming with SP3 you could do that easily.

I'm not sure if the kitting feature would get you what you are looking for either.

As for a customization, I would not call it easy and would probably recommend against doing what you are looking for outside of an offer, for performance consideration reasons. On a small catalog it would not degrade performance much, but as your catalog grows and the number of "grouped" volume discounts you have grows, the amount of data that needs to be analyzed on every page load grows close to exponentially.

Would not kitting allow him to set up a "product" that gave the customer 3 each of the differnet products for a reduced cost? Seems a simple solution.

Unless you are thinking of the one dimension of the kitting feature, which is to "build" something, but my understand is that it also allows you to put together "packs" combinging other products.

What i would be interested in is this.

We make a v-band clamp assembly in 4", 4"to3.5", 3.5", 3", 3"to2.5", & 2.5". They are priced at $56.00 for 1 assembly. I set up where you can get 5 for $54.00, or 10 for $52.00. But that only takes into account for that one item. Some customers need more than one size. So would like to be able to combine that volume discount across the 6 products.

Kinda like what happens with Product Variables. For example. In the 4" we offer it in Aluminum-Aluminum, Aluminum-Steel, & Steel-Steel. Now if you choose 2 Aluminum-Aluminum, 4 Aluminum-Steel, and 5 Steel-Steel for a total of 11 pieces you would get the $52.00 price or purchasing more than 10. Even though each selection appears in your Cart as a seperate item.

I played with the Offers and it can do it. But it doesn't display the fact your getting the volume discount.

i guess that is something i might have to look into having done custom. I'm sure someone that is good with that could make it happen.

That is on my wish list too. Right now the product discount only works on multiple purchases of a product in the list, not a combination of multiple products in the list. We have a work around set up based on the total value of the order.

I thought he meant different SKUs being purchased in random quantities, totaling up to earn a volume discount. This isn't the same as kitting (at least, not as you would build a computer).

In the cart:

6 blue pens, SKU "penblu"
6 black pens, SKU "penbla"
8 pencils, SKU "pencil"

Buy 10 or more pens OR 10 or more pencils, get 10% off. The pens qualify, but neither alone triggers the discount. How do you show the discount for the pens, but not the pencils?

Yes each of the different sizes is a different part with the material selection being a product variable of A, B, or C.

4", 4"to3.5", 3.5", 3", 3"to2.5", & 2.5", each has thier own part #(SKU) example. UWOLVB4, UWOLVB3.5. Would like to combine the quantity across all the part# (SKU) if possible.

Seems like that would be a good feature, since the customer could actually see they are getting the discounts when choosing the product (Volume Discount)

Hi Dan,

Curious as to why you do not make all your variations 1 sku with a second product choice for the size. This would handle your volume discounts issue.

That could work, but each size does not have the same material selction. For example the 4" is the only one available in steel. The 4"to3.5" & the 3"to 2.5" have an option as to which side get the o-ring grove.
