[3]This is the good report for those who don't have a one page checkout. In my case, I don't see customer email or any other info. Thank you anyway![/3]

When I first saw this post, I thought, "Oh, that's cool" -- but after implementing it, I can't tell you how useful it is! To be able to see cart contents and to match those up with visitors in my Live Help window helps identify if customers are having a problem. I have also been able to identify a problem a customer was having, she left the site, and I email and asked if I could complete her order manually, which she thought was great customer service, and I closed a sale!
Question: Is the timestamp when a cart is first created or at the last addition of an item? |

What would be nice - an easy way to filter the $0 carts. Even storing for a week with sometimes 500 carts triggering a day (bots seem to trigger them too) you end up with 3500 entries making it tough/impossible to find those with items.

Well, it is a free add-on after-all. So, any way to turn it off or get it working? Carts with $0.00 is a waste of database space - any way to empty the report as we can with searched terms?
If bots create an entry... how can a bot shop and fill a cart? |

Mitch I'm not sure but I know we have far more carts than visitors. I think the cart is created with any new session but we're not sure.
It would be much more useful to see just a number of total carts and then just have the carts with stuff in them listed, JOOH. This kills both birds with the same stone - we can all run conversion data roughly speaking and not have to spend so much time scanning through.
We manually clear out the carts every few days/weeks as it does seem to effect performance a bit too. You do that in the orders tab, set it to zero, save, run report, then set it back to xx days.

I would love to see the IP address added to the cart info -- that way I can associate a cart with a given customer that I see in my Live Help application. |

Joe, you seem to find a whole lot more value in this than I do. I'm getting a long list of 0.00. Clicking on them gets me to see an empty cart, 1 in 10 will have a product in it and a town, zip... I guess for a shipping quote, but the cart shows 0.00. How do you use the following? Maybe I'm completely missing it. Note that the "order" is marked Paid. yes, a $0.00 will be Paid because there is nothing yet to pay. I would say that probably 30 percent of my carts are $0.00 at the most. 60 percent are for the cost of a particularly popular brand of bird food -- I'm not sure what folks are doing -- they haven't entered a zip so they havent' checked shipping rates yet. I guess they are just "thinking" about it, or wondering what happens wh they add to cart -- many of my competition stores don't maintain inventory, don't stock the items, and so customers many times are "surprised" the next day when they are told it's out of stock. It's where I have a big advantage.
So about 10 percent of the carts show a significant number of products and many times will even show the customers full address info -- sometimes even an Order number, but for some reason the order didn't go through -- these I follow up on and usually close the sale. |

Sorry I missed the responses.
Mitch your suggestion is great. We'd love to be able to delete 0 value carts. Something else we notice is carts are created when someone tries to enter something below the minimums for the amount they attempt. IE one item at $5 we'll see a $5 cart even though the error checks toss it back for validation. Dumping zero value carts would allow us to keep 14+ days of data. We swear beyond 5-6 days the system really bogs down. We know it cost sales but what can we do?
Interestingly all of our carts show a default shipping state/country.
We almost never get the same quality data Joe is getting. Not sure why other than maybe most of our visitors are unregistered/new. We know via logs many are competitors price shopping.

This report is VERY useful. Thank you, Marcus!
We don't get the tons of $0 carts, but we find that it isn't updated continuously for some reason. Anyone have any ideas how to get it working in real-time?
Thanks,
Linette

The $0 cart issue is related to thefind bot. I don't believe we signed up for it, it just kind of found us. It and one other similar bot generate session id's as we make no submission to them, they come and find what they want and list us. Again, don't think we've had a single click yet and we end up with 100s of carts a day. Loads of fun :( Just wanted to clarify, it is nothing wrong with the report... As far as delay goes that must have something to do with your DB I'd presume. PromoManagers promo items

The db?
If I put something in the cart (customer view), then go away, then login as admin to view the Shopping Carts report, I don't see my cart.
If I go away again, come back to the store (customer view), my cart is there with the items I put in it, but it's not still not in the Shopping Carts report.
If I come back hours later, my cart might be in the report and it might not.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Linette
