Cutomization of Pages: via BV integrated methods or separate pages

I'm new to BV 5. I've created a new theme and replaced the FAQ page with one of my design. I've got the hang of the simple Service content pages like terms, etc. The contact Us page is a total unknown for me. I see some code in the contactus.code behind using a form with I presume questions. I can't find where those questions are entered into the system anywhere.
So my general questions is: Is it better to stay within the BV framework for additional or changed pages (for non-category/product pages) that are for service or other uses OR create and link totally separate pages. But I don't want to change the base framework so that I can protect myself for BV upgrades.
Another general question is: How / where do I find out how some of these BV features work. Like workflows for example. Like the above contact us functions. I hate to take 4-6 hours each issue just to play around to see what really is happening.

They're working on a more comprehensive manual. In the meantime, there's the BV4 manual, quite good and likely to be of more general help than the BV5 manual: http://www.bvsoftware.com/bvc2004/manual/http://www.bvsoftware.com/bvcommerce5manual/Sorry, but 'workflows' isn't a searchable term in either one. Workflows has been a topic many times on the forum though. Just specify 'all dates' when you search. Sorting by age hangs the program. |
