When we first purchased BV 5 we really liked the search results that were generated. But, since then the Service Packs have significantly changed the way searches work and in our minds we are not getting the search results that we really want based on customer inquiries.
So what we are hoping for is if there is someone out there that can either recommend or quote us on making a change to the Search engine for our BV 5 site. We are looking at something like how Ebay returns results. Basically if you cannot find the exact result in the search box product a linked list of results based on the subset of search box.
Something like this:
Search box Foot Pedal
If exact keyword does result a return then.
Display the number products have the word "Foot" Display the number of products have the word "Pedal"
Thats basically what we are looking for plus a few other little tweaks.
If anyone has any ideas it would be greatly appreciated. |

i agree... i was looking for a bestbuy/ebay search return. I have a lot of customers complaining they cant find what they are looking for on our search, even though we do have it. BVC5 SP2 was much better than SP3+.

I think we'd be in on this too if someone was looking to develop it. The last set of patches seemed to improve the search to a usable point but really it seems the only way to guarantee great results is to tailor the keyword search field (bv) to every possible combination. Others have discussed implementing full google searches as well.

Hallo, I can implement the search functionality you are looking for. I have created advanced search add-on for bv and working on its extending now. Please check out current results at http://bvc5.software-development-innovations.com. By the way there is still free installation left for advanced search so you can get current version of add-on completely free of charge. Please contact me on support at software-development-innovations.com for details. And also here is topic about advanced search add-on I'm working at now http://forums.bvcommerce.com/default.aspx?f=91&p=1&m=61618. Regards Dmitri |
