Customer Order Confirmation Email - On Hold ?

Some of my customers are concerned that the initial "Order Confirmation" status is "On Hold" I think they are concerned that there might be a problem with their order, or that we are just lazy.
Is there any way to have the first order confirmation state the status as being "In Process"
I know I can go into the admin and send them another email with the preferred status update. but that seems to redundant.
