Are there more stock themes available to choose (other than the 4 included)from that we can then modify to suit our site? Jim Terra [email protected] |

I didn't see any BVC5 themes over at Cliffs (Promotion).
Am I missing something? |

Those are the stock BV themes (Aside from the Tech Port). That tool just renames the standard themes for you. There are no additional themes. |

TekGear Redux is Cliffs Theme. I recommended you use his tool to change the theme names if you need to.

Bob, TekGear is a theme from BVC2004 that Cliff Ported to BVC5. My whole point was that Marcus referred to some new themes on Cliffs site but there are none, unless you consider the TekGear new. As far as the tool to change the names, this is handy indeed, but I just build my own themes from existing ones and rename everything in Visual Studio. |

Given the coming popularity of BV5 and the paucity (limited number) of well qualified 3rd party programers... I see a business opportunity here.
Surely someone can come up with 20 or 30 designs, ready for user defined text/font drop-ins, click-of-a-button color themes, page layout wizards, etc. Many other ecommerce engines offer this. Not 1st class, but they do get bought and used - and then modified later as the user gets 'legs'. |

Yeah, I haven't released any BVC5 themes that I've built from scratch. The tool on my site was mostly to give myself an easy way to rename a stock theme, though I doubt they'll work with SP2 right now. (By the way, the BVC Aurora theme on my site is a cleaned up version of the bundled one.) Will have a couple out soon, since SP2 is now out to work with.
The problem is really time. Doing one theme well is incredibly time-consuming, especially in BVC5, because there are so many variables involved. Doing 20 or 30 and the rest would be insane and totally not worth the time. It isn't as lucrative as you might think.
Which is why the upcoming, and then evolving, Fresh Start BVC5 theme should be helpful. It (hopefully) won't paint you into a corner on customization like a generic 'template' <shudder>, even if you're new to XHTML/.Net/CSS/etc. |
