A product that I am selling is only legal to buy in certain states. I noticed that under "tax class" on the edit product page you can select alcohol, tabacco, etc. Does anyone know where in the bvsoftware package I can select an option to block purchases from certain states? Thanks.

Not sure 'cause I haven't done this but.....
Options > Countries. Edit "United States" and delete the state(s).
This will only make it impossible for a shopper to enter their address on the checkout page (the state will not come up in the drop-down list). I'll bet your phone will ring.... "Your site is broken, I can't find my state". |

Mitch, your solution would not prevent a person from purchasing, just create an obstacle. Moreover presumably some products for sale are permitted and the same obstacle would prevent the sale of other products.
Rather than put up 2 stores - one for product X (with certain states) and one for product Y (all states) - which wouldn't actually prevent the sale of restricted produts I guessing this must be done in Javascript (or server-side coding) right before a person checks out (to verify the state is OK for the product).
I'm not sure what page that would be. Anyone have some suggestions? I am curious about the answer.
