I prefer to use the multi-page BVC2004 style checkout and I've noticed that it doesn't ask the user for his/her email address or to sign up for an account.

In SP1 the BVC2004 checkout will prompt the user for an e-mail address when you have the option in the admin selected to force an e-mail address on anonymous checkout. In the meantime though, if you want to force a login on checkout, simply go to the Admin screen, and then to Options -> Workflows. Edit the Checkout Started Workflow and then select "Require Login Before Checkout" in the drop down list. Then click on new to add it to the workflow. This will force users to login or create an account before they can checkout. |
