I converted my data, and am using the BVC5 theme that same with the software. When I select a category, the resulting page has the categories taking the full width of the browser, and the actual items appearing underneath. Before I go too much farther, I wanted to see if this is the intended layout (which would be strange), a known bug, or something that I have failed to do.

That theme was never updated before initial release. Get the updated version of the theme here, just select the Aurora theme from the drop-down, name it and download:

Customize as you like. That should fix your issues. If not, keep posting. :)

MUCH better - all the weird things seem to have gone away. It seemed like the closest starting point for my current 2004.7 store http://www.vivalowcarb.com

Now I have to slog through and try to it look like my old store

Good to hear. The TekGear Redux theme might be a bit closer to what you have currently, and might be easier to work with.

You're right. The TekGear is closer - it also seems to be a bit simplier. I figured out how to put my category column in the search page, which was one thing that was better for me with the BVC5 theme. I still need to do the same thing for the product detail page, but I assume it will not be too difficult.

Thanks for all your help. Matt's right - you are the man! I'm going to workin on this over the weekend, so you may not have heard the last from me.

Once you get the hang of some of the basics of how master pages and theming in BVC5 work, the possibilities and flexibility will absolutely blow your mind. :)

Thanks for the kind words!

I am making good headway - I expect to have something close by some time Sunday. What I don't understand is why BV does not make the process a whole lot easier by providing more (and better) examples and documenting what everything does. I'm going through the style sheet myself, changing things, and then adding comments on what that applies to. It would be a lot easier if BV did that in the first place!

The tutorial for changing master pages doesn't really tell you much either.

BV should just hire Cliff to create a dozen or so themes, with the focus being different layouts / functionality, not just different colors. Make sure they are all extensively documented, and things would be whole lot easier for all of us.

Funny thing is, 2004.7 had many of the same issues - the developer documention was virtually nothing. I hope that Marcus follows through at some point on his committment to improve the situation. I'm not complaining about the actual software, just the breadth of examples and the developer documentation.

We are having the same issue. I have tried with the various Themes available but always have the same issues. What we are looking for is to have the categories show to the left of the product content like this: http://www.bellabeachwear.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=BB1109

but we are actually getting is this: http://205.163.218.180/Products/Brazilian-Bikini-(1109)__BB1109.aspx

with the category appearing at the top of the product content. Can someone help? Thanks in advance.

What version of the software are you using, I ask this because the issues that people above are having is from the first release version of the software.

I think it is a settings issue.

Try going to Content - Columns, then select the System Product Page. Here you can add what ever you want as far as left columns goes including menus. (It took me a while to find this myself.)

I also noticed your model in your second link seems to be a bit wider then in the first link. I would suggest going to Options - Site Settings, and click on images. Then change the display sizes if you want (I wouldn't change them to much). Then resize all your images and canvases to those display sizes in some other GOOD image editing software. That is if you haven't already done so.

Thanks for the response.

I've tried both suggestions without improvement. Any other suggestions?
