No idea what causes it but I do know how to correct it.

For some reason the installer seems to become corrupted in the final .750 version and will refuse to create sites. It craps out at "Defaults Set". I've tried manually removing all IIS apps, deleting the dbs and clearing all traces. Still fails.

The only way to get around it is to completely remove the BV software using add/remove, and then reinstall it. Then it works.

Has there been anything else on this? I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and still keep getting the same error Invalid object name 'dbo.bvc_WebAppSetting' I have tried it locally as well as to a remove server via the ftp option and both give the same error. When I use 5.01 or 5.0 everything is fine. There has to be something with the service pack.

I had this error as well but then I re-downloaded the Full SP1 Install from my account, used Add and Remove programs to remove any older BV installs and then re-installed Full SP1. Once this was done I created a new site and installed using SQL Server Authentication and all was ok.

We will look into this to determine if we can figure out the cause of this and fix it in the future.

I'm getting the same error as well. I installed "clean". I'll try again.

When you have the issue make sure you use BVs site manager to remove the site. It will usually fail when trying to remove the actual files in the inetpub folder (someone else like Tim may be able to explain why this is, must have to do with permissions). You should then tell it to DELETE the site from the list. Now go to add/remove and remove the BVC site software.

Two more steps, go into the inetpub folder, wwwroot and remove the folder for your site. Next, go into SQL and manually remove the DB. Even though it fails trying to install it will often leave a db by the name you created. Delete the db, make sure the virtual root is gone/inetpub and then reinstall your copy of BV.

Every time I've had a problem this works. For Nick and Justin, all I can tell you is the failure happens right away. The installer jumps from the first step to the Create Tables phase instantly then throws the error. The DB that is created just includes the system tables. I really believe it's just a quirk in the site manager software, for some reason it chokes. Note that it doesn't matter what you do once it's happened, no matter what name you give the db, or what name you give the site it will fail.

Tim, I don't think this is related to SQL authentication as it's able to create the DB shell, but it's just not able to build it out. It's some type of check being done by BVs site manager I am almost positive. It seems to get confused but the workaround has worked 100% of the time for me as posted above.
