I'm having the problem of gift certificates not being applied to the order total on the order review screen or the receipt. When I view the order on the back end it says the credit card used to pay the remainder of the amount was charged the full amount. |

Here is what the Payment Information section of the order review page in the admin section shows:
 Credit Card
 Gift Certificate
 Gift Certificate
 Authorized: $177.95
 Charged: $177.95

The gift certificates are for 10.00 each so the total should be 157.95. 177.95 is shown in in customer order review section, receipt, and order review page.

Here is what the database shows:

 10.0000000000	10.0000000000	2006-12-08 08:24:00.030	KHP7UEZLRSWICPHWZ3ET	895d3aff-d634-4113-b4db-862b305451f1
 10.0000000000	10.0000000000	2006-12-08 08:24:00.187	Z3ETJZO7HEM4RBWIPPUZ	895d3aff-d634-4113-b4db-862b305451f1
 157.9500000000	157.9500000000	2006-12-08 08:24:00.297 895d3aff-d634-4113-b4db-862b305451f1

So the database shows the credit card as having been charged the correct amount. Only the receipts and review pages appear to be wrong.

Hmm, is there a way to check with your credit card provider and see what amount was actually charged to the card? Also, can we get a screenshot of the payment page so we ca see exactly what is shown? |

Howdy, I logged into my credit card processor and the correct amount for orders is being charged to the credit cards. Here is a couple of screenshots from bv5. One is the review order screen the customer has access to and the other is the payment screen only the administrator has access to. I think you may be a bit confused on the order editing screen. Let me see if I can help clear this up a bit.
On the top right is the order total, which will show the total amount authorized and charged for the whole order. For example, if the credit card hadn't been charged yet, and only the gift card had been used, then it would have still showed up as 10.00 authorized and 10.00 charged. This is just the terminology that we chose to use for the whole order. On the left side though, under each payment header, we display how much was actually charged to each payment method. You see under where it says "Credit Card" it shows that it was charged for 10.91 and then under the Gift Certificate it shows that it was debited for 10.00.

This way we can have any number of payments, and the top right will display the totals, while each payment method shows exactly how much it, individually, was debited for. I hope this helps clear things up for you!

 Thanks,
 Justin

It clears things up a little. In the bottom where it says Authorized and Charged it should state 10.91 instead of 20.91 because a 10.00 gift certificate is used. The customer thinks that his card was charged 20.91 because the discount for the gift certificate does not show up under "Authorized" and "Charged" |

I suggest removing the customer's name, etc. from those screens shots. |

I don't think Gift Certificates are treated as discounts. They are treated as forms of payment. Perhaps you could change the term "Authorized and Charged" to "Paid". |

Any status update on this? I also noticed that in the review screen for the 2004 checkout, the customer is not shown that the gift certificates they entered have been applied to their order total until after they check out. We get a lot of complaints from customers frustrated when they get to the review screen and it doesnt show their gift certificates being applied to the balance. They think the order grand total will be charged to their card. The gift certificate feature is mission critical for my client. They spent 3000 dollars getting gift cards made up and are frustrated because the gift certificates feature doesn't work properly and confuses customers. |

How would the screen info look if a gift card was used, but the value of the card wasn't fully exhausted???
$40.00 gift card, $25.00 purchase.... No need for credit card. How does the $15.00 gift card balance get displayed?
