Need cloned choice lists that aren't shared

I've got a bunch of color choices (with images) to create and it'll take a long time product by product. It would be great to make a list including all of the colors (sizes, etc.), then edit out colors that don't apply to an particular product. I know about "edit product choices", but all of the other choices attached to the products make each product have 400+ choice variants to weed through. I tried and the list wouldn't load - and I'm not going to increase the allowed list count, I don't need to change pictures, descriptions, SKUs, etc.
How about the ability to turn off "sharing" when creating a list of choices for those of us who don't track inventory via unique SKUs??
Oh, how about getting those emoticons to sit still!!! |

In this case you wouldn't want to use product choices, product modifiers are there for when you do not want to track individual skus on a choice. |

Justin,
Re-read my post. I'm wondering if there is a way to edit a list of choices WITHOUT having ALL of their instances of use change also.
This would be like making a list of items in Word, saving and cut/pasting into a new document and editing this list in the NEW document WITHOUT the original list changing in the ORIGINAL document.
Now, the original list in the original document changes when you edit the pasted list.
Possible??? |

Currently we do not have functionality to clone the choices on an item. Essentially, you want to be able to add choices to an item, then click something that would apply those choices to another item, but not have them be linked back to each other so that they can be modified independently. This is a good feature suggestion and we will definitely add it to the list to be implemented in the future.
Currently the only way you could do this is to create a product that has the options on it that you want, and then clone this product over and over. This will allow you to modify the cloned products to fit the needs of each one.
This can be done on the product list, there is a "clone" button. |

Yea, I was afraid of that. Instead of carrying a set of cloned choices to the product, I need to make a product template with product-specific choices, throw everything into it all at once and edit choices in the clones of the product template as new similar products are added to the catalog.
This is the opposite of the way I do it now with brand X-6, but it'll work. Shame that for now it's got to be a work-around.
I'll be making a category for "clones" and keeping it hidden.
Thank you. |
