I am once again exploring a new cart solution and looking seriously at BV5. however, I can't seem to find a "working store" to see what it is like. the demo store is empty and I don't feel like taking the time at this point to set up categories, products, etc., just to see if the features I need will be available.
One of the biggest drawbacks to BV in the past has been the ability to add items to the shopping cart directly from the Catalog Pages, in many instances customers were forced to go to an individual Detail Page, add to cart, back out to the Catalog page, go to the next Detail Page, etc. I need/want to have the ability where returning customers can add ANY of the items on a Catalog Page to the shopping cart.
Are there any live BV5 stores? There is a thread that lists one that is live, but that store really doesn't sell "products"

Birdsafe,
Depending on the theme and page set up used, you can choose a product from the catalog page listing and "add to cart" and STAY at the catalog page and buy again. This is provided however that a product has no choices. There is a toggle for "Go to cart at purchase" which will either take you to the cart or leave you where you are to buy something else, either at the product page or catalog page.
No choices gets you a "Add to Cart" button, choices gets you a "Details" button.

Mitch,
Glad to see you! I was afraid of your answer. Most of my products have "choices" -- that is a big problem with me. I think it is confusing that you have a catalog page where some items have an Add to Cart and some don't. And I have taken several customer polls on the issue and customers want that ability to choose anything they want without having to go to a detail page.
I will, of course, weigh the pros and cons, but that is almost a "deal-breaker" for me, at least enough that I will wait and see what comes out later this year.
Thanks!

Joe,
You can create a dynamic category and include products with pre-selected choices.
Or, you can create a module that'll sit on any page that's tied to a product detail that will list every product with that detail available. All birdseed that comes in 10 lb bags, for example, can be a dynamic category, in a module, on the home page.
A listing of the most popular choice configurations might steamline the shopper's trip. Also, there are some very talented third party suppliers here (no, not Wallace yet) so you may find a great solution if you dig around a bit. |

Hey Joe, long time...
We have made these types of mods for BV many times in the past. If it's imperative to your model to have this functionality, just code it in.
AAGR, BV couldn't have this OOTB because there are a whole lot of merchants that could blow it up at will. When you create a product with 10 options of 10 scenarios each, you end up with 100,000's of options. Do that times 100 products on a page and you're playing with disaster. Now in your case where you know there is only one option (like for a size) and there are only 3 to choose from, it would be quite easy to have it work that way without any degradation of performance. |

Hey Noah,
Good to *see* you! I've been giving this a lot of thought and am wondering if it is a big issue at all. There are many more important issues in the cart -- like not getting calls from customers saying they can't access the site -- right now there are issues, albeit minor, on our site that need fixes, but the fixes create bigger issues.
