Has anybody upgraded from BV4 to BV5? How did it go?

Do all the products, photos, files, folders, history transfer ok?

I have a few modifications in BV4, will they move to BV5 or does BV5 get those modifications seperately?

Do you loose any features changing from BV4 to 5 (does it still have the Amazon product deal?)

I would like to talk to someone that has done it. Thanks. David Schaefer 864-985-0606

We moved from BV4 to BV5.

As I understand it, BV5 is a major rewrite of BV4. They did this to make better use of the new features offered in dotnet 2.0. BV5

Our products change every year and Fall is the low activity period in our business. So we just entered all our new products on the test site.

Although our products, categories and content did move over, we did a lot of cut and pasting, restructuring and other modifications so we could use additional features offered in BV5 (mainly so our categories would display the way we wanted in the URL). We set up everything on our BV5 test site then did a final migration of just the users and orders when we went live.

As mentioned in other areas of this forum, there is a learning curve, but I think it really worth it. The new features are pretty amazing.

Dave,

We've moved one site over from another platform and had to learn a lot about the import tool and ran into similar issues as Bob. We are in the middle of another one right now. Our first task is taking an existing site and upgrading it to the latest version so we can test out the migration tool.

Things we are considering are as follows:
-existing custom code
-existing orders
-changes in database from existing to new database
-doing a test run
-running a streamlined upgrade incorporating all of the information and current orders.
