Hi guys, I have a tiny question.

I've crated two different tax classes (A) and (B).

One for thw half of my product. The other for the rest of them.

Then I create a State/Region tax selected as "All taxable items"

I place a new order, and in the checkout I choose the address for the selected state/region, and it doesn't charges the tax rate.

But, if in the tax, I select it as "(A)" or "(B)" it works.

Anyone knows why could it be that only for the "All taxable items" it doesn't works?

Thanks everyone.

Hi Auchi,

Could you post your exact tax setup? If possible a screen shot? Also, could you give an example with actual product names and actual prices?

Thank you,
Everett

Hi Everett.

I've set all my products as "US Taxable Item".

Then I've created a rule where for all Florida we charge a 7% of the order. -img 1-

If i set this rule for the "US Taxable Item" products, it works fine.

Lets suppouse I need to create a "New Tax" Class and I assign it to the "Abaco Zip-Off Pant".

Now I need to share this 7% charge for all products no matter which Tax Class it has assigned, so I change it to "All Taxable Items"

When I arrive to the Cart, the tax is not carged -img 2.A- and not only if the product is the "Abaco Zip-Off Pant", it doesn't works for any product.

If I change the rule again to the "New Tax" Class... it works fine -img 2.B-.

I dont know if I´m setting something wrong, but I cant make it work.

Do you need something else? More images, or to be more explicit in any point.

Honestly, by now, it's not important if this is a bug and it doesn't works, this was born because of the curiosity of testing all probable combinations.

Thanks again for all the help everyone has gave us in this site.

Hi Auchi,
I have attached some screen shots that display example tax configurations. I would not recommend setting up a Tax Class for All Taxable items. You should reserve tax classes for items that can be grouped such as "Alcohol, Tobacco, Clothing, Food&Beverage". When setting up your taxes, you do not need to assign a Tax Class for a National or State tax to apply. You simply define a tax for the country, or country and state, and if you select ALL Taxable Items, that tax will apply to all customers who live in that country and state.

If you need further assistance with this feature, please let me know.

Thanks,
Everett

Everett,
I had a request post SP1 about having an option to apply tax "on the price" or "from the price".
Basically in US you show a price to the customer then apply tax as extra at/during checkout. So if you want your prices to look nice you use a price of $49.95 then the tax gets added during checkout so the final price of the product with 10% tax is $54.94.
However in Australia (and most of Europe) tax is price of the price that we display. So a price of $49.95 is actually a price of $45.40 + 10% tax. To the user I always display the full price that includes the tax ($49.95) and during checkout I display the tax to the user as a separate line as Tax: $4.54.
This is a big problem for me as I can't display tax on any of my tax invoices. Is this fix in SP2? This is really critical for me as I have to manually edit each tax invoice before print and add the tax to it. More than that my email templates are missleading as I can't get the tax correctly displayed.
Thanks,
Corneliu.
