Hi,
When we get an order the user is not added to the database, I can't seem to find where the setting must be to add them?
Its working on another Sp1 site but I can only think its an option unchecked somewhere.
Any ideas?
Thanks

In the "checkout started" workflow add a "Require Login Before Checkout" workflow task. |

Thanks Justin,
I've added the task but I went back to an old SP1 and looked through some workflows, that task isn't there but its too hard to find if its in another workflow. Is this a change in SP2?

Nope, this isn't a change. By default bv commerce does not force users to create an account in order to place an order. This workflow task is the only way to force users to create an account. |

Actually I've talked through what the customer was thinking and its this....
"When an order is placed and the user has supplied an email address, add this users email address to a list so that we may email them".
Although the above requirement was borne out of a customer trying to log in to check on the progress of his order and we went looking for his email address in "People".
Whilst subscribing must require acknowledgement or opt out, its somewhat different than create an account?
Creating an account should not be necessary in order to sign up to a mailing list or perhaps the user must get an account in order to be able to unsubscribe?

It would really help us if you could offer a way to have an account created for the customer if they use the 1 page checkout (without creating an account) and enter an email address.
Is this available now if I make a workflow change?
Thanks, Linette

No, currently this is not an option. |

Yes, this is definately needed. What confuses people is that on the one page checkout provided with BVC5 there is a "Returning users log in here" section, so once they fill in the page and checkout they assume an account would have been created. Since they are already providing an email, address, etc it would make sense to auto create the account, all that is missing is password.
My Suggestions.
1. Auto generate a password and have this emailed to the customer (or Admin can look it up later if need be).
2. Option in Admin for something like "Allow Account Creation on One Page Checkout". This would show two password fields under email address that are optional but if filled out the account will be created. |

This is a repeat of this thread: http://forums.bvcommerce.com/default.aspx?f=79&m=45429&g=45612#m45612 I found that the majority of people wanted a single page checkout with an option to give the user an account or let the choose to create an account at the end of the purchase.... I think we'll continue to see new threads pop up with this topic until the feature is added. |
