I am very confuse over how Google Checkout shipping cost is defined. I am using BVC5 SP2 and have applied all the A,B, C hotfixes plus the new USPS DLL.

For example, I would like to charge customer the following rates based on 2 shipping methods:

1) via USPS Priority Mail by dollar amount spent:

$0.10 to $30.00 = charge $6.50

$31.00 to $55.00 = charge $8.50

etc...

2) via FedEx 2nd Day by weight:

0.01 to 1 lbs = charge $9.00

under 2 lbs = charge $12.00

Under Options | Site Settings | Payment | select Edit Google Checkout: We were only given default shipping type of

(a) Amount Per Weight Unit

(b)
<LABEL for=ctl00_MainContent_ctl00_DefaultShippingTypeRadioButtonList_1>Amount Per Monetary Unit</LABEL>
<TR><TD>

(c) Flat Rate

Question 1:

How do you "FORCE" google checkout shipping cost to be exactly the same as what we have already defined above? If this request is impossible, please let us know the reason(s) and let us know if a patch is being worked on to re-use the shipping rate tables already defined?

Question 2:

Does Google Checkout really use Real-Time shipping quote from USPS or FedEx at this time? I ran many different "Quantity" to change the weight and everytime I increase the quantity for an item (weight 1 lb) from 1 to 2, the shipping cost always doubles.

For example, I have these values defined in the Google Checkout Options page under Shipping Settings:

Default shipping type = Amount Per Weight Unit

a) US Postal Service $5.00

b) FedEx 2nd Day $15.00

If a customer perchase a Quantity 1 for a product, the shipping cost seems reasonable. But customer who purchase Quantity 2 will get the following quote:

a) US Postal Service = $10.00

b) FedEx 2nd Day = $30.00

Conclusion, Google checkout shipping cost is "over charging" customer. We wish to charge customer only $2.00 per additional quantity / lb, instead, the current setup charges the full amount per each additional quantity / lb.

Please clarify how to proceed. Thanks.

In the admin section of google checkout (not our admin section, but the one at google) there is a an integration page under the settings tab. On this page you have to specify an "API callback url" to your site for google to call back to. You have to set this to be "https://www.yourdomain.com/googlenotify.aspx" without the quotation marks. You also have to have the "Callback Method" set to XML and the "Shopping Cart Post Security" checked. This integration page will also show you any errors that google is having while trying to connect to your site.

The settings that you are seeing are the default shipping settings for google, which will be used if google cannot connect to your site to get actual shipping rates, or your site takes longer than 3 seconds to respond.

Hi Justin, thanks a lot for your help. I will try it out soon. Part of the reasons I am having this problem is I forgot to:

1) Map port 443 from my router to my PC. I only mapped port 80.

2) Also, my Windows Firewall is now allowing port 443. I had to add a port to allow 443 on top of the port 80.

I will keep you posted on my test result. Thanks.
