BVC 5 incorporates some of the Batch Order Update capabilities of 2004, but does not allow you "Mark" items as paid or shipped. The idea is that payment should be properly processed and shipping properly completed before they order will show a status of complete. This essentially compels the user(s) to properly complete these steps so that errors are not made. This is especially helpful when multiple users are active on one store.
There may be situations where having the ability to batch update the status is helpful and not likely to introduce errors, but I believe they are rare. The only real life situation I can think in which this function would be time saving is for a store that used a flat rate shipping fee and completely off line methods of payment. If either the shipping or the payment were dynamic in any way, you would not want to be able to "Batch" their status.

However, despite what I just said, I am completely open to your ideas and would like to hear your feed back on the situation.
