Hello, I have been looking for information on your database schema as part of of my evaluation. Do you have this documented? Thanks, -Rick

You can download the trial version of BV Commerce 5 to review the database schema. The trial includes the SQL create and populate scripts.

Where do you download the trial version? I am sure that it will answer many of my questions and put me at ease about choosing a pre-built product vs building one from scratch. |

Thanks for the link. I downloaded the demo, created a store, yadda, yadda....
The lack of documentation is a little disturbing. I took a look at the database and noticed that the account I should be able to log in as is "admin", but since the password is hashed, how can I log in?
I might have to recreate my store because I tried to email the password to myself (by updating the email address in the database) and it said there was an error when the email was sent even though it reset the password to a random one! I checked the web.config file to see if I could put in my SMTP server, and the lack of configuration settings is also very disturbing - I see no place to specify an SMTP server. The lack of comments in the bits and pieces of code I have looked at so far is pretty disturbing too. Am I somehow missing the setup instructions that are supposed to go along with this product? |

If you read the forums, it has been mentioned quite frequently that probably the 1 big problem with bvc5 is its lack of documentation.
However, the default install password is 'password' and I believe that is actually documented somewhere. There are actually a ton of configuration settings, however all of them are stored in the database, not in the web.config file. Your smtp server, etc can all be updated from within the admin section of bvc. |
