Hi,
Is it possible to customise the system to allow me to offer only credit/debit card payments through the shop front end but to allow staff to add cheque or invoice payments / orders through the "Add order" admin function without displaying these payments to the user? In addition to this is it possible to offer a specific user/customer group the ability to order using invoice but not allow this for other users?
I appreciate that this is not out of the box functionality but how easy/difficult would it be to customise.
On a second note the kitting functionality has been promised for some time now and I understand it is in SP3 can you give any type of timescale on when this may be delivered?
Thanks

The answer to the complexity of this implementation is highly varied depending on exactly what you want bv to do for you. If you are just looking for a new invoice payment method, and you will handle the actual invoicing and all other A/R functions (credit limits, approving the order to be released, invoice aging, etc), the implementation would be relatively easy for the admin only offering.
For a similiar situation but adding the functionality for specific customers to be able to choose the invoice invoice adds a varied degree of difficulty of the implementation depending on the level of integration you are looking for. For a non-hacked around implementation it will require some modifications to the core to add fields to the customer object as to whether or not they have "invoice" as a payment option. There are other less seemless options or hacks around the system to utilize fields bvc5 provides that could also enable this type of functionality.
If you are looking for a total A/R "module" to be built in, you are now talking about a fairly complex system with many many parts.
As for SP3, bv is going to have to chime in for that one. |

Well that is kind of the lines I was thinking in. I basically lump anything that didn't have an intended use that I use differently as a "hack". I have equated roles with being for assigning admin permissions by design, but maybe this type of use was also intended depending on your view. |

Thats odd, you use the role system is an extremely similiar way to a "Vendor Access Module" that I have been working on. I call it a hack, you don't, but it is definitely convenient either way :-). |
