I've recieved about five orders now -- three from one customer because she can't believe they aren't being paid -- they are PayPal Express, the store authorizes the sale, but PayPal says the "PayPal ID is invalid), yet the customer is sent back to the store, given an Order ID number and sent a confirmation email; the order is marked as UNPAID.
Iv'e contacted PayPal and all they want to do is ask me where the PayPal buttons are -- I give them the Transaction ID and they act like they don't know what that is.
Does anyone have a clue as to what is going on? |

Hey Joe,
I have been tracking this with a couple of other users. As of right now I can't tell if this is a PayPal issue or if something is up with the PayPal Checkout process. I can tell you that before two weeks ago, nobody was having this problem (or at least no one was reporting it). That is primarily why I think something has changed on PayPal's end. If you don't mind, would you keep track of this over the weekend and submit some screen shots in a trouble ticket if it continues to occur?
Thanks, |

Sure Everett,
I could give you some shots now, if you like, but I haven't seen this issue in the past 2 days, so maybe my prompting PayPal is doing something.
One thing that I think is an issue is the close proximity of the Checkout and PayPal Express buttons. I have some customers who have commented that it appeared to them that they must use PayPal as their only payment choice. I think there needs to be some space between the two, or the word "OR" between them. I've tried to add a like break on cart.aspx, but it hasn't had any effect. I think if you created cart.aspx so that the three buttons -- Checkout, Google Checkout, and PayPal Express were laid in a table, each on their own row -- I think I might change the "Checkout" button to say "Standard Checkout" to see if that has an effect. |

Joe, we are having the same problem with one of my web sites. Also, a big TAX issue as well...where the order for some reason defaults to the state of AL instead of the state of VA, therefore not including tax. Are you having that problem as well??

Hi Tori, I posted regarding the issue with the state codes, http://forums.bvcommerce...t.aspx?f=88&m=48429. What I did not know/realize since we do not often have an order that we need to collect tax on is that the taxes were being calculated incorrectly as a result of it. I posted a paypal checkout routine, http://forums.bvcommerce...t.aspx?f=79&m=48402, there that incorporates a bug fix for that issue, however I'm unsure of whether it corrects the tax issue as I did not realize the tax problem existed. The posted version also requires a phone number to be entered if shipping address phone number required is configured in your options. |

Hi Tori,
No -- well, I guess I would if I didn't catch the change, as the only place I'm seeing that is in the Edit Order screen - if you edit the order at all, it does change the state to AL -- so you have to catch that. |

I do a lot of development for another shopping cart platform and have noticed problems with PayPal during the last 2 weeks with it as well. Many clients of mine have complained of receving 2 confirmation emails and in some cases double orders with 2 different order numbers. I have not seen this problem during the last 2 days so hopefully PayPal has found the bug. |

Randall, good to see you here. Should we plan on seeing some good mods coming out of stokes? |

I've been seeing this recently too.
Submitted multiple Paypal tickets, they said it must be the shopping cart. But because it all worked fine over a month ago, I assume it was Paypal. I even changed my Paypal ID for sales to no avail. I'm still getting this Paypal bug to this day.
Let me know if there's a fix, thanks! |

That is my goal but I'm swamped with work at the moment so it won't be anytime soon.
I'm looking forward to learning BV5. |
