SP3/SP2 Search function... is it useful or is it just our site?

SP3 (and SP2).
Products in the db are as follows:
BVSoftware Product A
BvSoftware Product B
BVSoftware Product C
etc etc
If the customer searches for BVSoftware Product C they are given EVERY single product tagged with BV in the name. When disabling everything but a sku and product name search it still returns every single instance of the manufacturer/brand and ignores the relevancy of everything else. Is this the intended function?
Thanks

If anyone can provide feedback on how they setup search on their sites it would be great.

Mine's a buck-shot catch-all too. A search for 'Copper Vase' gets you anything with "copper", "vase" or "copper vase" in it. It also gets shelves - unrelated to vases but they have vase in the product description, as in 'you can put a vase on the shelf'.
Oddly, a search for 'vases' gets you nothing. An 's' at the end should be automatic - as long as we don't also end up with results for everything with 'va', 'vas', 'co', 'cop', 'copp', etc.
Dunno. I'm seeing more than enough gaps to keep a third-party developer busy creating add-ons for a long time. SF6 had plenty of them. |
