GOTCHA - Sale Discounts don't get along with Volume Discounts

I had set up a store wide sale on a number of items (100% discount) while I have the store in test mode for my customers. I also had various discount levels set up for ordering 5, 10, 20 etc. say of product A. The regular price of product A was $75. When customers went in and ordered up to 4 of Product A the 100% discount showed up and they were charged $0. If the customer ordered 5 the (the discount price for 5 or more was $70) they were charged $350. It seems that the 100% discount was only being applied for items at the regular price, not for all items. I had a number of customers email me asking why they were being charged when my site said that everything was free while in Test Mode.
This is just something to know if you use Volume Discounts. What I ended up having to do was remove ALL of my Volume Discounts for now (since they don't apply anyway) and I'll have to add them back in just before I remove the 100% sale. While that solves my current problem, it means that a Sale Discount can't be applied across the boards on top of the Volume Discount. You would need to apply the Sale Discount to the regular price and then go in and tweak each of the Volume Discounts as needed to reflect a sale price.
This applies to SP2. Since it is really more of a "logic" issue about where/when discounts are applied I expect it applies to other versions as well. It is not a bug per se, just something you need to be aware of in certain combinations.
The other weird wrinkle about this is that although the Cart said $350 and they were prompted for a credit card (which doesn't happen by the way if the order total is $0) when the order was processed I got various errors popping back from my cc authorizer and the value that ended up in the OrderDetails table for the Order was still $0. So BV5 SP2 really can't handle this kind of logic. I send it a support ticket about this but we still don't understand what was going on.
