When you press the add to cart button in the crossells the page refreshes... can we make it so it doesnt refresh just like when you press the add to cart button for the actual product?

The problem is im using a tabbed layout for my product description, product reviews and crossales. When you click add to cart on the crossells, it refreshes the screen and resets my tabs back to the default. Thats why I would like it to not refresh the screen...

Bryan, I've been reading your posts... I'm right there with you.

I went with a tabbed layout for a client but the tabs are a part of the product description. I'm using a tabbing solution written through jQuery. It's adding time to maintenance of a product. However, we're splitting the tabs up in what I think is the direction you should be going.

The tabs vary on a product by product basis but the general ideas are Overiew, Specs, Datasheets, Features, Videos, etc..

The product's specific accessories are being listed as related items and it's not included within the tabs. Rather an anchor link in the template file appears within the product properties list. Looking For Accessories? Click Here

The related items are listing in plain view below the tab section. This combats losing the related items display on page refresh.

It's not the most desired solution as it would be sweet to see something like this OOTB... but we have to keep the wheels turning.

Yeah the whole point is to get away from the redirecting to the shopping cart. My product descriptions can get so long i decided to go with a tabbed layout for two different areas, product types and the actual description itself. The tabs save so much space, i just wish that the screen wouldnt refresh when adding a crossell to the cart. poo!

Matt,

What do you do if the product doesnt have any crossells? Id like everything to be dynamic. If the product has accessories, than the link would show up. If the product doesnt have accessories, no link would show

Easiest thing was to create multiple templates as your question came up when I was working on it. If we know a product isn't going to have accessories, we'll use a different template as no matter what we're striving to have related items on every product.

Instead of Looking For Accessories?

It says Looking For Similar Products? Click Here

[color=#008000>

<FONT]I placed a recently viewed products content block on all of the product templates under the Related Items, so if there are no related items it will at least display the last 4 products viewed to fill the space if we missed some related items.

thats the workaround i was thinking about... if the product has no accessories than dont have the accessory tab. One template for products with and one for products without.

I guess the page not refreshing is the ultimate, dynamically generating the link if there are crosssells would be next, two different product templates next, then at the worst not doing it at all. Oh well ;)
