Hi there,

I've been having problems installing the trial website on my computer. I've tried a few times using Site Manager and also manually and I keep getting the same error.

My config is Vista with SP1.

Any help much appreciated.

The error msg is as follows:

<H1>Server Error in '/bvc5' Application.
<HR width="100%" color=silver SIZE=1>
</H1>
<H2>Object reference not set to an instance of an object. </H2>[color=#ffffcc>
<CODE>An]</B>location of the exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below.

</TABLE>
Stack Trace:

<CODE>
[NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.] BVSoftware.Bvc5.Core.Utilities.UrlRewriter.RewritePath(HttpApplication&amp; app, Uri sourceUrl) +311

System.Web.SyncEventExecutionStep.System.Web.HttpApplication.IExecutionStep.Execute() +92
</PRE>

Thanks a lot,

Chris

Sorry, I should clarify that the installation completes, and that the error is occurring when Site Manager tries to launch the pages at http://localhost/bvc5/BVAdmin/ for the first time.

It also shows the same error if I try to browse directly to http://localhost/bvc5/

Thanks.

Chris,

I know the error message wouldn't lead you to believe this but I'm 99.9% sure it's a database connection string problem. Check your web.config file and make sure you have the correct server, database, username and password to connect to your SQL server database.

Hi Marcus, seems that was the problem.

Thanks very much for the help.
