Having a problem transferring graphics from BV4 to BVC5 using the migration tool. Transferring to my HD. Using the trial ver. Do I need to pay for the BVC5 before it will work? Also, none of the links are listed on the category pages.

Hey john, I've done a couple imports and each time I've had to manually upload the artwork. |

Hi Matt,
Have a question, there's a folder already in BVC5, do I copy the images instead to this folder?

If you imported products out of BV4 to BV5 using the migration tool, the images will have to be in the same directory on the BV5 as they were in BV4.
Example BV4
/images/products/productimage.jpg
Same thing for BV5
/images/products/productimage.jpg |

Hi Matt,
I managed to ftp the images from my bv4 image folder to the same in bvc5. The problem I'm having is none of the products are displaying on the category pages. Also, do I have to bring over each image to the product page? 624 products.
Any help would be appreciated.

Double check any product to see if it is correctly assigned to the category.
1. Catalog (Top Green Button) > Products (Sub Menu under green buttons) > Edit a product
2. Click "Categories" in the left nav of the product dashboard
3. Scroll up and down to find the category
4. If it's not assigned to the category, place a check in the box next to the category. Hit the Save & Continue button
5. If it is assigned to the category, there should be a check box there.
Now go Catalog (Top Green Button) > Categories (Sub Menu under green buttons)
1. Click edit on the category you don't see products appear but are sure they are, over to the right, select *Grid* in the Grid Display Template drop down box.
2. Click Save.
Check your site.
If that's still not working, I suggest giving BV a shout to see if there might have been something wrong during the migration or a couple walkthroughs will help get you on your way. |

HI Matt,
Thanks for your help, I had tried what you suggested already, to no avail. I'm missing something...does this have something to do with the product display: Pre-Content Column Post-Content Column?

Hey John, no the pre & post columns are for content that you create via the Columns feature.
I think your migration may not have worked correctly. I'd send a support ticket or give BV call for help. |

Hi Matt,
I'm reached the end of my patience, it's time from me to find someone that has the capabilities to setup a froogle feed. I'm going to keep ver BV4. I used the migration tool again, there is no assignment of product categories no there is no longer an edit along side of the products, I now have "Submit Query" instead. Equally problematic is that I called Marcus and no one answers the phone. It's time to move on. Thanks for your help Matt. John

John,
You were hosted with us and we did a migration from BV 2004 to BV 5 for you. We gave you a complete copy of your BVC 2004 theme convereted to BV 5 and you still weren't happy. Your current BVC 2004 site has lots of HTML errors in the code from whomever modified your theme. You are never going to get a 100% copy of your BVC 2004 theme because it's broken. We suggested another hosting company who has made very successful transitions for lots of BV customers and it sounds like you're still not happy.
BV Commerce 5 is significantly different from BVC 2004. If you don't like BV Commerce 5 you are welcome to stick with BVC 2004.
Our support plans are clearly defined and paying customers who submit tickets through our support channels are helped according to our estimated response guidelines. Direct emails and phone calls for support are not guaranteed to receive any response although we do try to get to them as time permits.
We have updates to the migration tools posted in these forums and if you discover a bug please feel free to report your issue with the migration tool.
