I've removed APO (military) shipping from my shipping rate providers. But instead of stopping shipping to them, I now have people placing orders that have $0 for shipping and an APO shipping address. I'm having to call them, get a different shipping address, and then ship the products for free.

Anyone have a solution for this?

What we have done in the past is created a "per order" shipping method that would only be "valid" for the places we didn't want to ship to and called the shipping method "we do not ship to this location" and gave it a cost of ~$5000. That usually got the point across.

Could you explain why shipping to APO is not a good thing to do?

@rufosx - Be sure to remove the APO regions from the list of regions for United States...then they will not appear during checkout. I think you can use a workflow task to block checkout. If so, then create a custom workflow task to check the shipping address.

Andy, are you talking about removing the APO addresses from the Options -> Site Settings -> Countries? If I do that, they couldn't have an APO as a billing address, something we need to allow.

We can not ship to APO addresses because we sell cigars.

I also had someone in a rural area place an order with an address that both UPS and USPS did not return any prices for. They were not stopped from checking out with a Zero shipping charge.

The big shipping charge method would be a quick fix for the APO problem, but I'd like to be able to stop all zero shipping orders. I'm not great with the workflows (yet!), but I've done a ton of custom coding throughout the BVCore.

That is what I meant...I should have mentioned that the list applies to both billing a shipping addresses equally. Someone (Mitch?) made a suggestion a while ago to separate the 2 lists. I don't know where that stands.

I can't remember if a workflow can actually stop an order or just put it on hold (without some additional customization). There is a sample workflow task on my site.

I think it's been mentioned here more than once and it happened to me again this week. I don't ship to Cananda or int'l. I recieved a call from someone trying to place an order from Quebec, Ontario. He needed the product to go to Florida.

So.... He can't enter a Canadian 'bill-to' addy for CC# verification because I've only got USA turned on for shipping.

I think separating the 'allows' lists for Bill-to and Ship-to might be something to put on the list for BVC6. I think I did a while back.

For what it's worth, I don't ship to CN anymore because I've been back-charged for unpaid duty fees by customs via Fed Ex Ground too many times. A $300.00 to $500.00 shipment generates quite a fee. I'd like to be able to charge and hold an amount equal to the fee on deposit for a few months.... something to think about.

Having two lists would be great as we have the same problem as well.
Actually I think the Bill To Country should contain all the countries if the ship to is checked to be a different address than the bill to one.

Corneliu.
