Hello,
I have had this issue for a really long time now and finally trying to solve it.
When customers use Paypal Express Checkout I am not recieving their email address and phone number in the admin. Since we dont receive their emails customers are not getting automated emails from the store such as order confirmation and shipping confirmation.
Thanks in advance,
David

David,
Are you using the PayPal Express button on the Cart Page? If you only allow it on the Checkout Page, you can require an email address and phone number (though it won't require a valid phone number) that way. |

Joe,
Thank you for your response...
Yes, I am using the Paypal Express button on the cart page as well as on the checkout page. So there is no way to capture their email address if they go to Paypal from my cart?
When customers go to Paypal from my cart page, Paypal still sends my store all the other customer information like name, shipping address, etc... so there has to be a way to get their email address at the same time...
If I only have the Paypal option on my checkout page then customers have to fill out all the fields on my checkout page and then go to Paypal, login etc. The whole point of having Paypal as an option is to save customers time and make everything more convenient...
Thanks again!

Yes, but if you offer both credit card (through other processor) and PayPal -- I guarantee you are confusing some customers -- they see that PayPal Button that says "safer way to do business" -- or whatever it is says -- and click on it to use their credit card -- they don't have a PayPal account -- they go off-site (which turns a lot of customers off and you lose a sale), then others get confused, back up and either figure it out, call you, or walk away. It was a constant problem for me. And that is on top of the fact that there is a fairly large percent of people out there who, if they believe you are using PayPal for their credit card, will not use your store -- they don't trust PayPal.
Just my observation.
But have you tried clicking to require an email at checkout? It should at least require it when they are brought back to your site from PayPal. |

Yes, I do require an email address at checkout but its only good if they checkout on my site...
I just placed a test order using Paypal. When I am redirected back to my site after finishing at Paypal I see all my information including email address. I then have to select a shipping method and click place order. My order comes to the admin without an email address again even though it showed me my email address on the page on my site where I see my info after Paypal where I have to click "Place Order".
