We recently got a chargeback. The customer stated they did not agree to the terms and conditions of our checkout, but yet we require all customers to select the checkbox before they can checkout. VISA approved their chargeback because we cannot provide proof that they actaully selected the box, even though we stated it is required.
Officially they stated "For online purchases, the click to accespt screen shot must be included as proof the cardholder was aware of the terms and conditions"
How in the world can we make a screen shot of them checking out? I dont understand how this works.

OK i just got off the phone with VISA and Mastercard Merchant Services. They require that any policy appears on the checkout page. It cannot be a link to another page or pop-up window. BV now does not do this OTB. My guess is to create a scrollable iframe with all the policies displayed on the checkout. Below the iframe is the checkbox and checkout button.
When a chargeback does appear, a screenshot must be made of your current checkout page to show that this information is on the checkout page. The screenshot is not of each order, rather just what your checkoutpage looks like.

no problemo...
I decided to use the <textarea> tag with all my policies in it. The customer can then scroll through everything so it takes up less web space. Under the <textarea> i put the checkbox and checkout buttons. I can post a screenshot.

Another Update...
We have been getting hit with fraud a bit more lately. The billing address matches, the cvv code matches so we though everything was ok. Turns out it wasnt. I called Visa and Mastercard again. I now found out that for all ecommerce credit card transactions, the merchant will not be held liable when they only ship to the billing address (make sure the billing address matches ofcourse) AND require a signature.

We don't require the acceptance, but PCI rules are in effect. So, I'm working on having them display on the checkout page. |
