Free Shipping Product - Shipping Error when using PayPal

Hi -
I created a Free Shipping method for a single product which works great normally. However, my client just integrated PayPal Express Checkout and is encountering an odd issue:
1) User adds item to cart
2) Clicks on PayPal checkout
3) Goes through PayPal fine and gets back to site
4) Tries to select the free shipping method, and page validation fails with "A Shipping Method Must Be Selected" even though the free shipping has been selected.
Anyone else run into this issue or have a fix?
