Hello.
Just Like we can add a new field in Products.........bvc Admin-->Catalog-->Type Properties then add this in Product Properties and then assign it to Product.
Question????..........Same like that is there any way to add new field in Category.

I believe we are looking for the same feature as well.
To have s short description field and the existing standard description field.
When viewing our subcategories (grid view) on a top level category page, have the name, icon, then short descriptive text.

You could always create a graphic that contains your icon and short descriptive text and then insert that as the category icon |

That's a thought, though that we wouldn't be to optimize as much as possible, and we have mega-categories. Thank you for that idea as a last effort to compromise.

We have made this mod many times, it is actually just a cut and paste chunk of code.
We have also modified it to only use "X" number of characters and follow with a "..." when it is a space or formatting issue. |

IF we have several subcategory images on a Category page, we want a short text description for that subcategory. Does that make sense? Right now we are going to just use the MetaKeywords Field to build query and display a short description for Subcategory (we are using Sub Category Menu display option)
