I had this happen to me twice where the customer is shipping international and shipping is not calculated in the charge. How do I go back and get money for shipping?
If I set credit cards to "Authorize at Checkout, Capture Funds Later" would that help me collect shipping after the fact? |

Nope. The amount authorized is all you're entitled to.
You have the cc info... send an email to the shopper and ask for permission to charge for the shipping via your prosessor's admin.
You can do this without permission, but I always call or email so my phone doesn't ring. |

Yup thats what we do. We have a lot of "oversized" shipping so i created a "flag" with andy millers shipping application that lets the customer know their order has an oversized item in it. We will then call them to give them a quote.

Thanks for the advice. Any idea's why the shipping was not being calculated in the first place? US shipping works fine. Is there a setting I'm missing? |

Under settings you must create an actual shipping method for each of the services. If my memory serves, the UPS settings let you actually select multiple shipping method options under one tab. I don't do it that way.
I have 1 method for ups ground (set as not available in Canada, for example.) I have another method for ups standard (set as not available in USA, only available for Canada.) I have done the same thing with all other shipping options (USPS, Fedex) by making the US only options not available in other contries, and visa-versa.

What I don't understand is the in my US Postal Service method I have ship to all the countries listed. Your saying I need to create another US Postal Service with everything but the US and one with the US?
Thanks for the help! |

Did you create a shipping method for, say, Priority Mail International? If you only have Priority Mail set up, it will not be recognized for anything outside the US |

I would like to explain this issue a little better for the people, like myself, that has spent a lot of time looking for this solution.
Original problem: Calculated USPS shipping for international orders would return the message "To Be Determined. Contact Store for Details." Then the customer would be allowed to finalize the transaction. Not get charged for shipping and you're left high and dry paying for shipping :freaked: .
I didn't think this could possibly be the solution but after I tried it.... it worked. I had a domestic priority usps shipment but not a usps international priority shipment. I addad it and it worked fine.
Thought you should know.
