Ok, attempting to apply the upgrade to 5.4 from 5.3.2 in a test environment and the installer ran file, but when attempting to run the upgrade scripts at /sqlpatch.aspx it gets the following error: Code:Server Error in '/' Application. Could not drop object 'dbo.bvc_Product' because it is referenced by a FOREIGN KEY constraint. Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.
Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Could not drop object 'dbo.bvc_Product' because it is referenced by a FOREIGN KEY constraint. Reading through some of the posts, it looked like manually running the sql scripts here \BVAdmin\BVSql\SP4 was a potential solution. However, when attempting to manually run these scripts I also encounter errors (numerous) starting here Code:Altering [dbo].[bvc_Product] Altering [dbo].[bvc_ProductAvailableAndActive] Msg 207, Level 16, State 1, Procedure bvc_ProductAvailableAndActive, Line 38 Invalid column name 'QuantityAvailableForSale'. Msg 207, Level 16, State 1, Procedure bvc_ProductAvailableAndActive, Line 38 Invalid column name 'QuantityAvailableForSale'. Msg 207, Level 16, State 1, Procedure bvc_ProductAvailableAndActive, Line 44 Invalid column name 'QuantityAvailableForSale'. Where should I go from here? |

I'll leave the original post instead of just editing it so if someone else has the same error they'll see it here, but upon double-checking, the previous version was actually SP2 NOT SP 3.2 - so I assume I need to go back and first upgrade to 3.2 and then to 4... I'll go that route and post the results. |

There should just be one script to run to patch from 5.3 to 5.4. If you're using any script with "drop table" it's probably the "start from scratch and create the database" script instead of an upgrade one.

Doing an upgrade from BVC5 SP 2 to the latest, 3.4. Got exactly the same error on the sqlpatch.aspx page. History: Used the tool CreateNewStore.exe and chose the Upgrade 5.x Store option. Everything went well until browsing to the store and clicking the provided button to start the database upgrade. What SQL script s, in required order, need to be run manually to perform a successful upgrade from SP 2 to SP 3.4? Do you have anything custom at all in your database? If not, would you be willing to create a SQL backup for us that we could review to figure out why it isn't working correctly.

It sounds like the system isn't correctly detecting which SQL version your database is. There are SQL patches for 5.3.1 and 5.3.2 that must be run before 5.4 if you haven't already installed 5.3.1 and 5.3.2
