Product modifiers in store not recognised.

Upgraded to V5.4. No changes to products or variations from prior version. But now on the product page when there are a lot of choices the chosen variation does select ( radio button goes black ) but when add to cart is selected the message "Field required" appears. I don't know if there is a point where this error appears due to a number of choices. On the store I have choices of 2 or 3 variations and it works fine as before. But where there are variations/choices of many, say more than 10. The error/problem appears. I'm also running 5.4, on my local machine, and I get the same result on my product pages. I've only been testing a single product -- a t-shirt -- and it has only two modifiers: size and color. When I put color into an image radio button (with little color swatches), I'm unable to add the product to the cart and move on. When I change Color to a simple dropdown (which is also what Size is), it works....well, sorta fine. I no longer get the "Field required" error.
The problem I'm getting now is that although field validation is no longer a problem, I'm still not sent to the cart page; somehow I end up on an "Additional Product Information" page that I've never used or seen before. However, if I go the cart page manually from that point, I can see that the product was indeed added. Peculiar.

Bede & myself,
Nevermind the second, insane half of my post. I'd gotten the Additional Product Information page while writing response about the main issue (modifiers) and just tacked it onto the post without much investigation (little things like, you know, scrolling down the page). I see now that it's the product upsell/cross-sell stuff that I hadn't set up, but my friend must've set up some associations I wasn't aware of.
Please continue as though my above second paragraph never existed....but the first one still does. :)

There is an issue with Image Radio Buttons that we're addressing in 5.4. Non-image radio buttons should already be updated to handle this.
