Has anyone found a way that you can make it so that:

1. Products are not available for customers to order; and

2. Do not display in the Low-Stock Inventory email; and

3. Without deleting the product.

Right now if you delete an item, all kinds of bad things can happen if you have to access a past order that contains one of those items. The only way to prevent customers from re-ordering such an item -- at least that I have found -- is to set the product to Track Inventory, set the level to zero, and set it to DO NOT ALLOW ORDERS. The problem is then is that all these items clog up the low inventory email that I get daily.

Thanks

Nope -- still shows up in the inventory email -- plus customers that have the URL saved, or pull it up in old orders can still reorder it if you don't have it out of stock and not to allow orders!

Could you get someone under the hood to update the inventory email? If you deactivate the item, email checks for this and doesn't include it.

Regarding the hardlink issue, which I experienced as well, it's fixed with the upgrade or create a redirect file to catch the URL and send them to the homepage or any other page.

It's not rock solid but it may help temporarily.

Joe,

What service pack are you running? I thought 5.4 fixed the "Active" bug so that even customers with a URL saved couldn't get the items when deactivated.

Marcus,

I'm running 5.3 -- I have some customization that I'm afraid I will lose if I run the update; as I'm not sure how to run it myself while maintaining the customization -- things are working smoothly, just looking for minor tweaking.

Matt -- to your point, I've posted here before that I was wondering if anyone can "optimize" the inventory email, but so far no takers.

Joe,

Can you go back to the developer that performed your customizations and have them do the upgrade to the latest version of BV? It shouldn't be very difficult. That person should also be able to make the email changes that you're requesting.
