In this category

when]<FONT color=#800080>http://www.kansassampler.com/Products/KU-Headband-White__279634.aspx[/color]
it has no next because it switched to "headbands and sweatbands" - the item is in 2 categories so it doesn't do to the next hat even though you started there.

Knit hats is in the "Men's" category and Headbands are in the "Fan Gear" category.

It seems to me the "next" should go to the next item in the category you are in. In this case, it shoudl "next" through all the Knit Hats items.

What is wrong and how can we make it work right? Thanks!

I think what you really want to know is when there is one product assigned to 2 different categries in the admin, what breadcrumb trail will display on the product page based upon the category you are viewing.

Bv seems to default to one value. Does anyone know what the value defaults too? Regardless of where you are in the catalog, when you view a product it only shows a default for the bread crumb trail. Even if you are started in a different category.

BV tracks the last category you viewed. When you view a product that belongs to more than one category, it tries to match the last category you viewed to one of the categories that a product belongs to. If it finds a match, it chooses that category. Looking at the code I really can't explain what I'm seeing on your site. The menu controls that we've developed use more sophisticated logic to determine the current category. We will be releasing these to the community in the near future. We have yet to develop a breadcrumb as we often do not use these in the sites we build. However, you could make use of our code for this.

Thanks for the explanation Aaron. We developed this add-on for the client based upon their spending budget and the fact 100% of the site's we build use the built in breadcrumb trail in BV5. Breadcrumb trails are pretty standard practice these days in web sites. It is great to be able reference where you are in the shop or forum's catalog, just like the one we see above in this forum.

Marcy,

Maybe we can look at redoing this for you to not rely so much on the built in BV5 breadcrumb. Send me an email and I will see what we can do.

Thanks,

Thanks Brendon. We have very few items in multiple categories, In fact, my upload db currently only allows 1. Of course, the one the client tested was the exception.
