Item shows backordered but inventory is not enabled

I just upgraded to SP 5.6. One item is showing backordered, but I'm not tracking inventory on this item. I checked the shared choices to see if any wer invalid and I also made the item inactive and then active again to try to reset. Any ideas why it still shows "backordered"?
