I have created a new email template that is being sent to the customer upon order being placed and I want it to include the contents of that product's long description field.

I have added the tag [[Product.Long Description]] but the email itself shows the tag and not the actual content of that field.

Thanks,
Derek

Have you made sure that the template tag you are using is available in the email template you are sending with? I remember trying to add the gift certificate tag into a print template once and found out from BV that in the core source code it wasn't specified for that template, and I could not use it there.

Derek what is your version? I looked at the source for a 5.4.5 site and the [[Product.Long Description]] is in the ReplacementTags() function. Have not tested for output though.

UPDATE: I can insert the tag into the "Repeating Section" and it shows up but not in the "Body" section...
...............
I just tried adding the [[Product.LongDescription]] tag to the default Admin Confirmation email. I added just below the username field but it still only shows the tag name and not the content. It shows as an available tag within the box to the right of available tags.

Derek, how are you hiding the long description on the product page? (You have a related thread to this long description)

Are you doing a visible="false" on the product template page?

Any tag that starts with [[Product. will only work in the repeating section because it is product specific. Without a line item with a product there is no way for the tag to know where to get information from.
